Materials

To create your amigurumi Santa Claus, gather the following materials:

  • Yarn:
    • Vita Cotton Coco in red and white
    • Alize Softy in white for the beard
    • YarnArt Jeans in brown
    • Alize Bella in beige
  • Tools:
    • Crochet hooks: 1.5 mm and 2.5 mm for Alize Softy
    • Black beads for the eyes
    • Sewing needle
    • Scissors
    • Fiberfill for stuffing

Amigurumi Santa Claus Free Pattern

Arms (Make Two)

  1. Using white yarn:
    • R1: 4 sc in magic ring [4]
    • R2: 1 sc, inc, 2 sc [5]
    • R3: 5 sc
  2. Switch to red yarn:
    • R4: 2 sc, inc, 2 sc [6]
    • R5: 3 sc, inc, 2 sc [7]
    • R6-10: 7 sc for 5 rows
  3. Stuff gently with fiberfill, then fold the top flat and crochet 4 sc through both sides.

Beard

  1. Using Alize Softy yarn and 2.5 mm hook:
    • Chain 11.
    • R1: From the 2nd ch from hook, 10 sc, turn.
    • R2: sl st, then (3-dc-bobble-stitch) 8 times, finish with sl st.

Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Head

  1. Using beige yarn and 1.5 mm hook:
    • Chain 7.

  2. Continue with:
    • R4-9: 26 sc for 6 rows
    • R10: (dec, 11 sc) twice [24]
    • R11: (2 sc, dec) six times [18]
    • R12: (1 sc, dec) six times [12]
  3. Stuff with fiberfill and fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Legs and Body

  1. Legs (Make Two):
    • Using brown yarn:
      • R1: 5 sc in magic ring [5]
      • R2: 1 sc, inc, 3 sc [6]
      • R3: 2 sc, inc, 3 sc [7]
  2. Switch to red yarn:
    • R4: 3 sc, inc, 3 sc [8]
    • R5: 4 sc, inc, 3 dc [9]
    • R6: 9 sc
  3. For the second leg, do not fasten off. Chain 6 and join with the first leg.
  4. Continue crocheting the body in the round:
    • R7: 9 sc on first leg, 6 sc in chain, 9 sc on second leg, 6 sc in opposite chain [30]
    • R8: 30 sc
    • R9: inc, 14 sc, inc, 14 sc [32]
  5. Change to brown yarn:
    • R10-11: 32 sc (2 rows)
  6. Change to red yarn:
    • R12: (if needed, add 1 sc) 32 sc
    • R13-14: 32 sc (2 rows)
    • R15: dec, 14 sc, dec, 14 sc [30]
  7. Continue reducing with dec through R18. Finish stuffing and fasten off.

Hat

  1. Using Alize Softy yarn and 2.5 mm hook:
    • Chain 22, join with sl st.
    • R1: 22 sc
    • Switch to red yarn (1.5 mm hook):
    • R2: 22 sc
    • R3-6: 22 sc for 4 rows
  2. Continue decreasing for the hat through R30, then fasten off.

Pompom

  1. Using white yarn and 1.5 mm hook:
    • R1: 6 sc in magic ring [6]
    • R2: inc six times [12]
    • R3: 12 sc
    • R4: dec six times [6]

Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing, and attach the pompom to the hat.

Assembly

  1. Sew the head to the body.
